it's a bird...and a plane

What a weekend! I probably could have crammed in more, but I am pretty satisfied with how much I did do on my 4 days off. After taking care of business on Friday, the weekend really began Saturday when we cruised around Carlsbad Village and had the BEST gelato at Yoshino Japanese Deli [*yes, gelato at a Japanese deli!]
Afterwards, we went surfing...and despite small size [my favorite] and messy wind swell, I had the best waves of my summer! My sheer surfing excitement was followed by steak dinner at home and a few bottles of some good red with our good friend.
To make things especially sweet this weekend, I must have made at least 4 dozen of my special cookies:

On Sunday, our friend joined us on another Zodiac adventure, this time out to the kelp patties in Cardiff. Though the fishing was less than prosperous, our ride to shore was eventful and a little shaky.
I rounded out the Labor Day holiday with a Maternity photo shoot, no pun intended :)
